{"title":"week 11 highlights 2022","description":"","products":[{"product_id":"suzukiski-thought","title":"Suzukiski - Thought","description":"\u003cp\u003eFor their third release SAISEI present a reissue of highly respected Japanese producer Suzukiski’s 1993 debut album Thought LP.\n\nThe full 12 tracks from the original release will be released on vinyl for the first time - with the majority of tracks exclusively re-edited for vinyl extended play.\n\nTakahiro Suzuki is hugely prolific within Japanese electronic music culture yet has remained under the radar despite releasing over 9 albums between 1993 and 2006. Thought was his debut long player and is a perfect example of his minimal and poised approach to production. Across the 12 tracks he shows off his aptitude for creating delicate yet effective house and techno, referencing the Detroit sound that was eminanating and revolutionaising electronic music at the time. For sleeve notes of the release Suzukiski lent this quote, speaking of the Detroit influence “These artists created these simple and minimal tracks that were so beautiful and gave me joy, yet I’d never seen their faces before.”\n\nBased on a solid groove and created on the limited hardware setups which were key to the time of its creation, the album carries all the charm of minimal all hardware made music. The result is a timeless collection of tracks that show a serious commitment to refined sound with a joyous and carefree uplifting feeling.\n\nSAISEI - run by London based, Japan born DJ Junki Inoue continues to unearth and present vital and special recordings from the 90s era of Japanese electronic music production. These releases build on her strong presence as an adventurous DJ imbuing the art of techno selection with a hypnotic, ancient charm. It’s no surprise to discover common aesthetic ground between Fournier-Mercadante and Bambounou, whose own tendencies towards polyrhythmic incantations are a snug fit within this vaguely defined field of transcendental techno.\n\nIn every aspect of her work Fournier-Mercadante presents an alternative vision of electronic dance music steeped in astrology, philosophy, metaphysical science and ritual. As a trained, accomplished dancer, her music is intrinsically linked to physical movement, made explicit in the visual accompaniments to her pieces, and in the creative process of this release.\n\nAmongst the four tracks on this record is ‘Senstronaut (MYO)’, the first Fournier-Mercadante has made entirely using an MYO motion sensor. All parts were created as progressive layers using arm gestures, affording her an immediate connection between her dance performance and music production.\n\nKinesiology – the study of human movement – forms one of the underlying themes of the EP.
