Ed O'brien - Blue Morpho

Indie Exclusive – Ed O'Brien, the acclaimed guitarist and singer-songwriter best known for his role in Radiohead, announces Blue Morpho, his immersive second solo album and the first released under his own name.

Blue Morpho, named after the iridescent butterfly, was written during lockdown and recorded at The Church Studios in London and Seven Sound in Wales. The tranquil Welsh countryside proved to be a source of inspiration, and the album radiates an atmosphere of reflection, healing, and acceptance.

Musically, the album is a collage of hypnotic psych-folk, jazz, trip-hop, shimmering guitars, and richly textured rhythm sections. Blue Morpho marks a fresh and deeply personal chapter in O'Brien’s musical journey.

The album was produced by Paul Epworth (Adele, Coldplay), with additional production by Riley MacIntyre (Ezra Collective), and mixed by Ben Baptie (Sault, Little Simz). It features an impressive lineup of musicians, including Shabaka Hutchings (flute), Dave Okumu (guitars, bass), Philip Selway (drums), and the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra.
