Modern Lovers - Rock 'n' Roll With The Modern Lovers

Rock 'n Roll With The Modern Lovers is the second album by The Modern Lovers. The band was founded in 1970 by singer, songwriter, and guitarist Jonathan Richman, joined by Jerry Harrison (keyboards), Ernie Brooks (bass), and David Robinson (drums). Richman’s friend John Felice occasionally performed with them as well.

Their sound is almost entirely focused on the music of the 1950s. The lo-fi record breathes folk-rooted music and rock ’n’ roll as it sounded long ago. The album includes the popular tracks “Ice Cream Man,” “Roller Coaster By The Sea,” and “Egyptian Reggae.” The latter was a cover version of Earl Zero’s “None Shall Escape the Judgement” and became a Top 5 hit in the UK.
