Getz/Gilberto demonstrates how bossa nova introduced a new sound to jazz in the 1960s. The album brings saxophonist Stan Getz together with Brazilian musicians such as singer and guitarist João Gilberto and composer and pianist Antônio Carlos Jobim. The release includes well-known performances of “The Girl from Ipanema,” featuring vocals by Astrud Gilberto, and “Desafinado.” With its refined interplay, warm atmosphere, and distinctive melodies, Getz/Gilberto became an important album in both jazz and bossa nova.
