GG Allin - Expose Yourself: The Singles Collection 1977-1991

If you had immense courage (and a strong stomach), you might have been “lucky” enough to experience GG Allin the way he was meant to be: on stage. In the studio, GG’s recordings often couldn’t match the fire of his live performances (and how could they, after seeing some of his brutal shows on video), since they were released on various obscure indie labels and were of inconsistent quality.

One of the first compilations to truly bring together tracks from GG’s controversial career is Expose Yourself: The Singles Collection 1977–1991 from 2004. A few songs had been impossible to find for years, such as the early GG single “Love Tunnel” b/w “Devil’s Triangle”, which appears here for the first time in years. Elsewhere you’ll find tracks that had surfaced on other releases—“Snakeman’s Dance,” “When I Die,” “Gypsy Motherfucker,” and so on—but which rank among GG’s best.

Because it covers most of his different eras, Expose Yourself: The Singles Collection 1977–1991 is without a doubt one of the better GG compilations out there.
