Originally released in 1976, Metallic KO was the fourth album by Iggy & The Stooges, a classic and unforgettable recording of the Stooges’ confrontational final performance. The band had not been heard from since 1973’s Raw Power, and the sound of kamikaze Iggy dodging eggs and glasses thrown at him by Hell’s Angels between the new songs earned him a new audience within the emerging punk scene.

The album established Iggy as a punk pioneer, sold more than 100,000 copies, and became the Stooges’ best-selling album. Previously reissued as an expanded double CD featuring two complete concerts (FREUDCD070), it has now been restored to the exact original album version that shocked and inspired so many people.

During the 2007 remastering of the original tapes, an original tape-speed error was discovered — the album can now be heard in the correct pitch for the first time ever!
