About Saba Alizadeh

Born in Tehran in 1983, Saba Alizadeh is a leading figure in contemporary Iranian music. Trained in traditional Kamancheh and experimental sound practices at CalArts in Los Angeles, he blends Persian music with modern tools like the no-input mixer and modular synthesizer. Alizadeh's compositions often incorporate manipulated historic audio recordings in a Neo Musique Concrete fashion, exploring sound as an object. His musical career encompasses both virtuosic solo performances on the Kamancheh and experimental works with social and political themes. As praised by Songline magazine, “Recognized for his mastery of both traditional and technological aspects of music, Alizadeh's compositions offer a fragmented exploration of internal space”
