Cro-Mags - Age Of Quarrel: 40 Years Of Quarrel

Forty years ago, the New York band CRO-MAGS defined the metal-punk crossover with their groundbreaking 1986 album The Age of Quarrel. The intensity, influence, and groove of that record still resonate today, but they are also characterized by—and fueled by—the explosiveness of the band itself, which has endured despite constant internal conflicts and a reputation that is every bit as dangerous as the band itself.

Now led by founding member and bassist Harley Flanagan (who took over as CRO-MAGS’ frontman starting with the 1989 album Best Wishes), it’s time to put the quarrel to rest with this tribute to the legendary album.

On this reinterpretation of CRO-MAGS classics including “Hard Times,” “World Peace,” and “Malfunction,” as well as the addition of the 1985 demo classic “Everybody’s Gonna Die,” Flanagan is joined by former band members (AOQ guitarist) Doug Holland and former Suicidal Tendencies and CRO-MAGS guitarist Rocky George, along with members of modern-day CRO-MAGS followers Turnstile and Rise Against.

Produced and mixed by Arthur Rizk (Power Trip, Blood Incantation), 40 Years of Quarrel is not only a reinterpretation of a pivotal crossover classic, but also rekindles the fire for longtime fans and new CRO-MAGS followers alike.
