In this 4LP box set, “Miles ’56,” released in honor of Miles Davis’s 100th birthday, the recordings from the year in which Davis created his most influential work for Prestige Records have been collected. Featuring tracks from Cookin' with the Miles Davis Quintet, Relaxin' with the Miles Davis Quintet, Workin' with the Miles Davis Quintet, and Steamin' with the Miles Davis Quintet, this collection includes recordings by Davis’s quintet featuring John Coltrane, Red Garland, Paul Chambers, and Philly Joe Jones, remastered from the original analog tapes by GRAMMY-winning sound engineer Paul Blakemore. It also features new liner notes by GRAMMY winners Ashley Kahn and Dan Morgenstern.
