With lyrics composed since she was 14 years old - Nina is currently 21 - “INTEIRA” evokes two concepts simultaneously: it's her first full album, her calling card in the contemporary Brazilian authorial scene, but it's also her most intimate quilt so far, since each song reverberates different moments from her adolescence and early youth up until now.
The selection of this repertoire was guided by Nina's desire to express her artistic paths and processes, something that began to take shape as she began to gather the songs she considered ready or already very close to it. To make all these steps sound better, Nina invited São Paulo musician and producer Yann Dardenne (Seloki Records) to share the musical production of “Inteira” with her.
This four-handed direction effectively expresses Nina's vocal talent throughout the album, marrying it to sophisticated arrangements recorded with her backing band, made up of musicians Thalin (drums), Valentim Frateschi (bass), Francisca Barreto (cello) and Thales Hashiguti (viola and violin). The piano and rhodes throughout "INTEIRA" were composed and played by Nina herself.
“Playing the songs before recording the album really helped us understand the production paths, not least because this 'band-show' formation was put together organically,” says Nina. ”We tried out different proposals in these performances, feeling out the possibilities of the arrangements for each song. After that, changes also happened in the studio phase, with alterations, distortions and additions of electronic elements in the production part,” she says.
Nina was born in Minas Gerais and raised in São Paulo. This mixture is equally present in "INTEIRA", after all, it not only makes her up as a person, but also as a musician. "We brought in references from singers of the samba song, Clube da Esquina and its members, artists who influenced Nina's musical formation, without neglecting contemporary sounds that she listens to with the same intensity," says co-producer Yann Dardenne.
Musically speaking, “INTEIRA” offers a proposal that keeps the voice as the main instrument and places Nina as a generous artist, who shares her concerns without fear of making herself heard and understood.
