Receptivity was born from frontman Alex Biro’s personal journey through addiction, loss, and recovery, and is the most honest album Selfish Things has ever made.

After years of touring with bands such as Jimmy Eat World, Simple Plan, and Don Broco, a hiatus in 2020 led to a personal crisis—and ultimately to the songs that would become this album.

Written in collaboration with longtime creative partner Michael Ticar and producer Mike Tompa (Silverstein, The Devil Wears Prada) during the early months of Biro’s recovery, Receptivity is an album about confronting the mess without looking away. It is about accountability, community, and the quiet work of rebuilding yourself.
