The debut album All Over the Place by The Bangles received strong reviews and brought the band to a much wider audience. This attracted the attention of Prince, who decided to give them the song “Manic Monday.”

The 12-track album Different Light produced five hit singles, including the aforementioned “Manic Monday” and “If She Knew What She Wants,” “Walking Down Your Street,” “Following,” and “Walk Like an Egyptian.”
